A Paint-Decorated Poplar Blanket Chest, Pennsylvania or Ohio, 19th Century
Retaining its original black and red squiggle decoration. The interior fitted with till box and the lid inscribed in pencil, "Bought by Lyman Hopson for his daughter Martha in 1840"

Provenance: From an Ohio collection.
Condition
Hinges replaced and with corresponding patches. The top with shrinkage and does not sit flush on case. Lacking key. the top with rubbing, wear and loss to squiggle decoration. Shrinkage crack to front of case. Other expected nicks, marks and scratches.
