By P.H Holmes, with a manuscript label: PH Holmes/Gardiner ME/USA/Sept 4, 1882 . Also with a repair label: KW Jones repair label-Olyphant 1956. The two-piece quarter sawn maple back of strong medium curl descending from the center joint with the purfling forming a little geometric design below the button. The maple ribs are of narrow curl. The maple head is of narrow curl. The two-piece spruce table is of narrow grain. The varnish is a faded reddish-orange color over a yellow ground. Comes with a black case.
