American School (Mid 19th Century), Portrait of a Young Lady, Oil on Canvas. Depicting a young woman seated in a Rococo Revival armchair wearing a blue dress with jewelry and hair braided. A naively rendered glass vase with roses to her left. Unsigned.
Dimensions: 34 1/4 x 27in; Frame 36 x 29in.
Condition
The canvas has been relined. Craquelure to surface. Examined under UV light; there are minor areas of refreshing, nothing fluoresces to the sitter's head or body. The parcel gilt and ebonized frame with scattered marks, wear and surface scratches.
