A Pennsylvania Chippendale Walnut Tall Case Clock, Benjamin Morris (1748-1833), Hilltown and New Britain, Fourth Quarter 18th Century.
The white-painted arched dial with rolling moon phase to the lunette, having Roman hours and Arabic minutes, with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, having an applied brass plaque to the center engraved 'BM', all within floral painted spandrels, the twin train eight-day movement striking on a bell.
The broken arch hood with fluted plinths above a swans neck ending in applied carved rosette terminals, the dial door flanked by free-standing colonnettes and tombstone side lights, the step and cove molding above a waist with fluted quarter columns flanking an arched door above a cove molding, the conforming box base supported by ogee bracket feet.

Retaining an old, darkened and dry surface. General marks, wear, abrasions and surface scratches. There are old breaks, glued repairs and losses overall to the case; feet, hood, finial plinths, etc. Lacking finials. The reverse of case door with reinforcements to correct warping. The dial with typical craquelure and small losses throughout, wear heaviest to rolling moon phase. The date aperture with losses overall. With two weights, pendulum and case key. The suspension spring to pendulum is broken. We cannot guarantee the completeness and functionality of the clock's movement. The movement is not completely built and possibly lacking some parts (many are retained).
