A Chippendale faux grain painted pine mule chest, second half 18th century, having a hinged top enclosing a full width and depth compartment, the front faced with two faux drawers above two genuine drawers, raised on bracket feet with deep spurs and a shaped skirt.height 43in; width 39in; depth 18 3/4in
The chest is structurally sound. Retaining a dry and early faux grain painted surface. The drawer sides are constructed with wedge dovetails and rosehead nails to the sides and bottoms. The lid top retaining its original iron cotter pins. Typical dings, dents, scuffs and surface scratches overall.
