A Delaware Valley Chippendale Carved Walnut Chair, Second Half 18th Century. The shaped crest rail above a figured solid splat, and trapezoidal  slip seat, raised on cabriole front legs terminating in claw-and-ball feet, the side rails having through tenons and pegged into the raked back legs with stump feet.

Dimensions: Height 36 3/4in; width 23in; depth of seat 15 1/2in.

Provenance: Sold in these rooms, June 23, 2024, Lot 116.

Condition

Structurally sound. With plugged holes to the front of each stile and extra pegged/plugged holes to front corners of the side rails. (probably had arms that were later added and then removed) General marks, wear, abrasions and small losses. There is a small break and glued repair to the front right knee return. The upholstered slip seat is in good condition.
