Diminutive Queen Anne Walnut Tall Case Clock, Christopher Gould (d. 1718), London, Circa 1700
The seven 5/8-Inch square brass dial with silent/strike lever above a brass chapter ring having Roman hours, Arabic minutes and fleur-de-lys half hour markers, with a subsidiary date aperture to the matte center within cast spandrels, inscribed 'CHR GOULD LONDINI FECIT', the three train movement with six knopped and finned pillars, having an anchor escapement, striking on the hour on a single bell, and quarter striking on a rack of six bells.
The sarcophagus top, supporting three plinths with turned finials, above a heavily molded cornice with blind fret carving to the frieze over a square glazed dial door, flanked by engaged colonnettes and rectangular sidelights. The cove molded rectangular waist with conforming molded door, crossbanding and featherbanding to the sides, above a molded box and plinth base. Oak secondary wood.

Footnote: Christopher Gould is listed as a member in The Clockmakers' Company of London directory in 1682.
Condition
The case is structurally sound. In overall good restored condition, with typical marks, wear, nicks, and surface scratches commensurate with age and use. Minor movement, patches and buckling to some veneers. The dial with typical wear, rubbing and toning to brass metalwork. With three weights, pendulum, case key and winding crank. At the time the condition report was conducted, the clock was maintaining power and striking.
