A Federal Mahogany Pillar and Scroll Shelf Clock, Eli Terry & Sons, Plymouth Connecticut, Circa 1823-1831

The twelve inch white-painted dial having Arabic numerals, with wooden works movement, the twin train movement striking on a bell. The hinged door with reverse painted glass tablet. Having an applied E. Terry & Sons paper label to the interior of case inscribed "PATENT CLOCKS, / INVENTED BY / ELI TERRY. / MADE AND SOLD AT PLYMOUTH, CONNECTICUT. / BY / E. TERRY & SONS. / WARRANTED IF WELL USED."

Dimensions: Height 31 1/4in; width 17 1/4in; depth 4 1/2in.

Condition

The case in an overall good condition, general marks, wear, abrasions, and surface scratches. Minor movement to veneers, shrinkage and age cracks. Wear, rubbing, darkening, craquelure and losses to painted dial. The reverse painted tablet on dial door is in good condition, however replaced. The dial glass is also replaced. Scattered minor glued repairs and losses. With two weights, pendulum and winding crank. We cannot guarantee the completeness or functionality of the clock's movement.
