Four Portrait Miniatures of Children, Early 19th Century. Watercolor, unsigned. Comprising four portraits framed in oval locket cases. Each child is wearing a white dress. The portrait of the child with toy horse is framed in a gilt metal locket case with woven hair to the reverse; the portrait of the child wearing a black hat framed in a rose gold filled locket case with cobalt blue glass to the reverse; the smallest portrait is framed in a rose gold filled locket case / brooch; and the fourth portrait framed in a finely cast gilt metal locket case.

Dimensions: Sight dimensions range from 1 1/2 x 1 1/4in to 2 1/2 x 2in; Frame dimensions range from 1 5/8 x 1 3/8in to 2 3/4 x 2 1/4in.

This lot comes from an Upper West Side, New York City collection that will be featured in a short lecture by noted specialist of portrait miniatures, Elle Shushan. Not examined out of the frames. Each portrait appears to be in generally good condition overall. Minor warping and slightly loose in case. The frames with typical wear, scuffs, surface scratches and small losses throughout.
