A George III mahogany slant front desk, fourth quarter 18th century. the hinged fall enclosing a fitted interior of pigeon holes and small drawers about a central prospect door flanked by vertical document drawers, above four long drawers, raised on bracket feet.Height 43 1/2in; width 43 1/2in; depth 20 3/4in.From a local collection.
Structurally sound. The top and fall front with dents, necks and patches. The brass hinges holding the fall front have been reset. The current brass hardware is replaced. The drawer fronts with scarring and plugged holes from earlier hardware. Typical dings, dents, and surface scratches. Scattered repairs and replacements throughout. The interior prospect door with a small key and the long case drawers with a key.
