A Large American Yellow-Painted Pine Slide Lid Box, 19th Century

The rectangular chamfered sliding lid with mitered corners and nailed case solid pine construction. Stamped in red paint to one end, "LETTER / 1878".

Dimensions: Height 8in; width 15in; depth 11in.

Provenance: From the Dorothea & Tom Buckner Estate. Dotty (Dorothea) and Tom Buckner began collecting Early American painted primitive furniture and accessories in 1979 and over the next 22 years they were regular buyers from a number of respected Bucks County, Pennsylvania antique dealers.

Condition

Structurally sound. Retaining an untouched and worn surface. General marks and wear commensurate with age and use, otherwise good condition.
