A Late Federal Tiger Maple and Walnut Tall Case Clock, Mid-Atlantic, First Quarter 19th Century

The painted wood arched dial, having Roman and Arabic numerals, with hand-painted Neoclassical motifs to the lunette and spandrels, the brass and wood twin train movement striking on a bell. The hood with broken with swans neck broken arch pediment, the dial door flanked by turned columns, the waist with rectangular door and ogee arch with crotch walnut veneer, flanked by chamfered corners with lambs tongue terminals, above a cove waist molded conforming sunken panel box base with paneled sides, raised on short turned feet.

Structurally sound. Retaining an old refinished surface. General marks, wear, abrasions, surface scratches, and small losses. Age cracks, shrinkage and movement to veneers. The three finials have been highly polished. The dial with craquelure throughout, minor wear and touch-up. With two weights, pendulum and case key.
