An American Chippendale Walnut Side Chair, Mid-Atlantic States, Fourth Quarter 18th Century. The yoked crest rail, shaped stiles above a trapezoidal upholstered slip seat, seat railes with through tenons to reverse, raised on straight legs joined by stretchers.
Dimensions: Height 39 3/4in; width 20 1/2in; depth of seat 14 1/2in; seat height 18in.
Condition
Structurally sound. Retaining an old dry finish. Minor movement at joints. There is a break to the middle of left stile with pinned repair. Seat rails with old scars from upholstery tacks to exterior. Upholstery is in good condition. Reinforcements to underside of slip seat frame.
