A Pair of New York Federal Carved Mahogany Trick-Leg Card Tables, Circa 1815

Of the type associated with the cabinet shop of Duncan Phyfe (1768-1854).

Nicely proportioned, each having an elliptical fold-top above a carved support on a tripod base with reeded saber legs, both rear legs with trick mechanism hinging back to support the fold top, ending in bronze paw feet and brass casters. (2)

Dimensions: Height 28 3/4in; width 36in; depth 17 3/4in; depth open 35 1/2in.

Ethel Luisa Dannenberg Morse (1885-1959).

Edmond N. Morse (1922-2015).

Thence by descent to the present owner.

Condition

Structurally sound. General marks and wear to the surface. The tops of each table with shrinkage, age cracks, movement and small losses to the veneers, otherwise good condition.
