A Pennsylvania Chippendale Cherry Slant Front Desk, Third Quarter 18th Century. The rectangular top with blind dovetails over a hinged fall with mitered corners and thumb molded edge, enclosing an interior fitted with a central prospect door with applied carved swags to reveal a removable bank of small drawers and pigeon holes, concealing two secret drawers to the reverse, flanked by engaged colonettes with flame finals to the document drawer fronts, further flanked by four valanced pigeon holes and two small over one large drawer to either side, all above four graduated beaded drawers flanked by fluted quarter columns over a molded base, raised on ogee bracket feet. Pine secondary wood, having full depth dust boards.

Condition
Structurally sound. Retaining an old, dark and dry surface. the front left foot with a break and glued-repair to foot facing along the left side. Several small repairs to beading around drawers. The hardware appears to be original. Several glue blocks replaced to the underside. General marks, wear, nicks, abrasions, scuffs, surface scratches and small losses overall. All drawers retain locks. The prospect door with key, no other keys.
