A Pennsylvania Chippendale Curly Walnut Slant Front Desk, Third Quarter 18th Century. The hinged thumb molded fall enclosing a five-shell carved interior; fitted with a central concave shell carved prospect door, to reveal a removable bank of small drawers and pigeon holes, further concealing small secret drawers, flanked by two document drawers with fluted pilasters, further flanked by four pigeon holes and two small shell carved concave drawers to either side above four small serpentine drawers, all above four graduated drawers over a molded base, raised on ogee bracket feet.

Structurally sound. There are small patches where the hinges tore off the desk. There is a large, but very well hidden patch to the lip of the top of the desk. The feet, glue blocks and parts to the base molding are of the period, but possibly replaced and later added to the bottom of the desk. The brasses are period replacements in original holes to drawer fronts. Foot pads to bracket feet. General marks, wear, nicks, abrasions and surfurface scratches.
