Pennsylvania School (Mid 19th Century) Portrait of a Young Woman. Oil on Canvas, laid down. Unsigned. Seated with long dark hair, wearing all black and a cross around her neck. In a gilded oak frame. Inscribed verso, "Theodore Kram / Painter / Port Providence / Montgomery Co.".
Dimensions: Sight 19 x 15in; Frame 26 x 22in.
Footnote: Port Providence is an unincorporated village along the Schuylkill River in Upper Providence Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
Condition
The canvas is laid down to card. Losses to canvas along edges. Craquelure to the canvas overall.Examined under UV Light, there is scattered areas that fluoresce. There is in-painting to the sitter's eyes, eye lashes, hair and small areas to her clothing and background.
