A Shenandoah Valley of Virginia Walnut and Punched Tin Paneled Food / Pie Safe, Probably Rockingham County, Circa 1840. The pinned mortise-and-tenon case having a rectangular top with applied edge moldings above two hinged paneled doors fitted with three punched tins each, enclosing an interior with three shelves, having three punched tins to either paneled side, raised on tall turned legs. The twelve punched tins with opposing horizontal semi-elliptical elements with circular terminals and stylized fleur-de-lis, each with quarter fans to the corners.
Dimensions: Height 57in; width 40in; depth 18in.

Condition
Structurally sound. Retaining an old dry surface. Each of the tin panels with a very dark, grungy and oxidized surface. The top of the case with significant shrinkage.
