A Somerset County, Pennsylvania Ink and Watercolor Fraktur: Geburts und Taufschein (Birth and Baptismal Certificate), Dated 1819

Decorated with suns, moons, lions and a windmill.

Having eleven lines of text inscribed,

"Unto these two parents John and / Mary Baker was born a Son / on the fourth day of April in the year of our / Lord One Thousand eight hundred / and nineteen and was baptized by the Rev. Hyre / the Parents being the Sponcers and giving the child / the name of George in Southampton Township / Somerset County / and State of  Pensylvania". In an ebonized wood frame.

Dimensions: Paper 12 1/4in x 14 1/4in; Frame 18 1/4in x 20 1/2in. 

Provenance: From a Philadelphia Collection. 

Condition

Not examined out of the frame. Strong creases, tears. There is a 1in x 1/2in hole at the upper right quadrant.
