Two American calico, plaid and homespun pieced quilts, circa 1880-1900, patterns including an 'Ocean Waves' and 'Center Square', the 'Ocean Waves' example has a stitched patch to the reverse with ink inscription "Mrs. M.W. MAIER. / 330-79 ST. / BRKLYN./ (4.)", together with an unfinished pieced quilt top.Dimensions of largest complete approximately 76 x 66in ('Ocean Waves').From a New Jersey Estate.
Each with typical wear. The 'Ocean Waves' example with scattered wear, small losses and some thinning to fabrics throughout. The Red calico example with heavy sun fading, and minor discoloration throughout. The quilt top is in generally good condition overall.
