A Pennsylvania Chippendale Figured Walnut Tall Case Clock, Daniel Rose (1749-1827), Reading, Late 18th Century

The white-painted arched dial with rolling moon phase to the lunette, with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, having a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, inscribed to the center, "Daniel Rose / Reading", all within floral and fruit painted spandrels, the twin train eight-day movement striking on a bell.

The broken arch hood with turned finials on square plinths above a swans neck ending in applied carved rosette terminals above a figured tympanum, the dial door flanked by free-standing colonettes and rectangular side lights, the step and cove molding above a molded frieze joining the waist with fluted quarter columns flanking a double-arch crest door, above a cove molding, the conforming sunken paneled box base all supported by ogee bracket feet.

Structurally sound. There is a large diagonal patched repair to the tympanum of hood. Craquelure to the dial overall, minor flaking, scattered touch-up to numerals. Several repaired breaks to foot facings. The bottom board of case with some repair. With two weights, pendulum and winding crank. The pendulum bob is not currently attached to the rod. There is one small gear/cog that is not currently attached to the movement. One bass pendulum pulley needs to be re-pinned to its iron hook. We cannot guarantee the completeness and functionality of the clock's movement.
