A Pennsylvania Chippendale Walnut Blanket Chest, Late 18th Century
The strap hinged rectangular top with applied molded edge enclosing a dovetail-constructed box with left and right covered tills, over two drawers, molded base below, raised on ogee bracket feet. Tulip poplar and pine secondary wood.
Dimensions: Height 30 1/4in; width 50in; depth 25in.
Provenance: From the collection of Bill and Nancy Haase.
Condition
Structurally sound. Brass hardware is replaced. The right drawer remains locked. Heavy wear, scratches and abrasions to the surface. Losses to lip moldings of drawer faces and applied molded edges to lid.
