Also included are nearly three hundred objects from various estates and collections. Art by Robert William Wood, Joseph Barrett, Raymond Guerrier, Peter Arno, Ben Benn and others. A Shenandoah Valley of Virginia Faux Grained Poplar, Pine and Punched Tin Paneled Food / Pie Safe, Probably Rockingham County, First Half 19th Century

The pinned mortise-and-tenon case having a rectangular galleried top above two hinged paneled doors fitted with three punched tins each, enclosing an interior with three shelves, having three punched tins to either paneled side, raised on tall square tapered legs. The twelve punched tins with central fylfot within a circle, flanked by opposing crescents to either side and a rosettes to the corners. Accompanied by a photo of the piece, pre-restoration in old white paint.

Dimensions: Height 56 1/4in; width 42 3/4in; depth 18 1/2in.

Provenance: From the collection of Bill and Nancy Haase.

Condition

Structurally sound. In overall restored condition. Retaining an earlier faux grain painted surface. Each of the tin panels with a restored and cleaned surface. Heaviest wear to the top and of the case and wear the doors meet. General marks, wear, nicks abrasions, surface scratches and small losses.
