Two Girlhood wool on linen needlework samplers, second half 19th century, each with rows of the alphabet and numbers above pictoral scenes of birds, flowers and religious subjects, one sampler dated for 1862.Smaller sampler 12 1/4 x 8 1/4in; frame 19 x 14 1/2in; larger sampler 16 1/2 x 8in; frame 24 x 15 1/4in.From a New Jersey Estate.
Neither sampler has been examined out of the frame. Both matted, framed and glazed. Minor wear, discoloration and small losses, especially to the larger example.
