Both late 19th or early 20th century, a square example depicting detailed pictoral decoration including a central samurai and a smaller round bowl with a scalloped top edge and dense figural decoration.The round bowl is 5" in diameter and 1 1/2" tall, the square example is 6 1/8" x 6 1/8" and 1 1/2" tall.From a Philadelphia collection.
The round bowl is in excellent condition, the square example has old restoration to the top edge including poorly executed touch-up to the gilt piping and a repaired break which is disguised by the addition of painted swags at the bottom.
